When you want to put two quotes side by side in different columns, make sure to wait until  you see a short black line:

Do this.

Do this.

Don't place it when you see a grey block:

Don't do this.

Don't do this.

The grey block will cause the underneath paragraph to format in a peculiar way when the browser window resizes.

This is what you don't want!

Troubleshooting

Separating quote blocks

Goal: You just want to move a little bit of text! (highlighted part)

Because some quote blocks are just regular blocks of text, sometimes Squarespace will combine them into one massive block of text. This is normally okay, but when you want to move just a little bit of text, this is annoying.

Solution: Add a horizontal line or a spacer (or two) around the block of text that you want to move. You could also add a new paragraph by pressing ENTER (to make a new paragraph), then changing the paragraph alignment.

Now you can select a smaller portion!
